What are the methods of sizing?

According to the different sizing effect, sizing methods are divided into internal sizing and surface sizing. Internal sizing is to add rubber to pulp and then make paper and cardboard with hydrophobicity. The common compounds are rosin and synthetic compounds. Surface sizing is to coat paper with a thin layer of adhesive, so that paper has hydrophobic properties. Common rubber materials include starch, animal glue, and synthetic rubber. Surface sizing is mainly used for offset paper, writing paper and packaging paper and cardboard with hydrophobic requirements.

What are the effects of surface sizing on the performance of printed paper?

1. Increasing the water resistance and surface strength of paper can reduce the hair loss in offset printing; 2.Improving the printing suitability. If there is too little surface adhesive, the paper will absorb too much linking material in ink, resulting in a dull impression. On the contrary, if the surface glue is too much, it will slow down the drying rate of the ink, resulting in dirty and bright stains; 3.increasing the paper’s erasability, surface sizing can reduce the penetration of ink, so it is easy to erase the ink and increase the anti-friction ability of the paper surface; 4. it will increase the strength of the paper, such as breakage resistance, folding resistance and tensile strength. 5.
